Got this myself on my phone, and it simply rejected to upgrade. Below's what helped me.

Edit: this appears to be a problem that Facebook understand. It's a problem with the Facebook app, as well as not a generalised Play Store problem.

This is what benefited me at the very least.

  1. Settings > Applications > All > Google Play Store, Clear information and Clear cache

  2. Settings > Applications > All > Google Play Provider > Manage area, Clear all information as well as Clear cache


It doesn't hurt if you reactivate your phone before you attempt updating facebook once again. And also, the set up was SLOW. Simply at least 4-5 minutes. But, it did job. If not attempt to uninstall it, or merely wait on a repair.
