Got this myself on my phone, and it simply declined to update. Here's what benefited me.

Edit: this seems to be an issue that Facebook understand. It's a concern with the Facebook application, and also not a generalised Play Shop concern.

This is what benefited me at least.

  1. Settings > Applications > All > Google Play Shop, Clear information and also Clear cache

  2. Settings > Applications > All > Google Play Solutions > Manage area, Clear all information and Clear cache
