Got this myself on my phone, and also it just refused to update. Below's what benefited me.

Edit: this appears to be a problem that Facebook know. It's a concern with the Facebook application, and also not a generalised Play Shop issue.

This is what worked for me at the very least.

  1. Settings > Applications > All > Google Play Shop, Clear data and also Clear cache

  2. Settings > Applications > All > Google Play Provider > Manage space, Clear all data and also Clear cache


It doesn't hurt if you restart your phone before you try upgrading facebook once again. And, the mount was SLOW. Simply a minimum of 4-5 mins. But, it did work. Otherwise try to uninstall it, or just wait for a solution.
